IBM WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition
IBM WebSphere(R) Information Integrator Content Editionenables multiple, disparate content repositories to look and act as one unified system. It allows organizations to access and work with scattered content assets through a single user interface and from within the key business applications where it is needed most.
Reach distributed content sources as part of enterprise search initiatives. WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition tightly integrates with WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFindTM Edition to provide access to a broader set of unstructured information sources as part of a free-form text search paradigm. This enables organizations to extend their WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind Edition search initiatives to incorporate all their information sources.
Incorporate distributed content into your data integration initiatives. Some 80 percent of enterprise information is unstructured, but for most organizations it is an untapped asset within business intelligence and data integration initiatives. WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition can be deployed together with other WebSphere Information Integrator federation offerings to provide federated access to all classes of information - structured and unstructured, mainframe and distributed, public and private - from within a standard structured query language (SQL) based interface.

Workflow
Document routing is enhanced to include decision points, actions, action lists, parallel routing, and Line of Business access nodes. In addition, a new graphical builder within the system administration client enables non-technical business users to define document routing processes.
  • The decision point capability enables decision making in the process based on the item attributes. For example,
  • - Claim amount less than 1000
    - Process properties, such as process priority more than 100
    - Process container data, such as decision equals approval
  • Through actions and action lists, users can define custom operations in the process.
  • The parallel routing capability allows the concurrent processing of a document or folder through the process.
  • The Line of Business access node supports the integration of your process with external line-of-business business logic.
  • The graphical process builder supports the process modeling of simple sequential routing and sophisticated routing with decision points, actions and action lists, parallel routing, and Line of Business access. With the ease of use of the builder, you can delegate modeling and deploying processes to non-technical business users.
In addition, DB2 Content Manager provides sample code and documentation to enable integration with the Process Choreographer (PC) component of IBM WebSphere Business Integrator Server Foundation. Process Choreographer is an alternative to document routing. Using Process Choreographer allows you to treat DB2 Content Manager-based processes as a subtype of existing overall business processes. For document routing users, it allows future extensions of document-centric business processes beyond the content repository. It also allows you to integrate heterogeneous business applications with DB2 Content Manager. It provides the following features:
  • Operating system-independent development generating operating system-specific code
  • Application scalability and failover mechanisms, including on demand style flexible provisioning
  • Ability to tie in any type of legacy application
  • Support of Web Services description language (WSDL) and business process execution language (BPEL) standards
